 A combination of skills of the traditional kanchi weaver with French tapestry technique is used to faithfully reproduce the famous painting in the pallu portion. This is a tribute to the Royal Painter, Raja Ravi Varma on his 150th anniversary. It contains 26 different colour tones and nearly 80 colour threads to recreate the original colours of the painting. It takes two skilled weavers about four months to weave this saree with one hundred thousand knots. Truly a masterpiece! |
