 RmKV’s passion for the craft of silk weaving regularly introduces new ideas, techniques
and products into the silk arena. Year after year, RmKV invests in researching new
methodologies that make silk weaving a thriving art rather than a fading one.
RmKV’s silk innovations include:
- Systematic and scientific silk dyeing techniques by creating a colour palette containing
more than 125,000 colours, becoming the first in the industry to be able to produce
silk sarees, pavadais and salwar-kameez in unique hues and exquisite combinations
never seen before, and in any color requested by our customer;
- Being one of the first to use information technology, in our Design Studio, to create
new designs, to simplify designing of jacquard cards used for silk weaving, and
to customize the jacquard technique to create dazzling new designs on silk;
- Making improvisations and improvements to the traditional loom to drastically reduce
the physical effort for silk weavers to make their life of art easier;
- Breathing new life into the vanishing practice of young girls wearing the traditional
‘Pavadai’, by weaving fairy tales like Cinderella and Snow White on it, thereby
waving a transforming magic wand at the children’s fashion scene;
- Taking silk weaving technique to new heights by introducing patented reversible
silk sarees that have two colours and designs on either side with 4 pallus, thereby
bringing four different sarees into one; proving that creativity has
no limits by
unfurling a range of sarees sporting embossed designs on silk, a new patented technique
aptly named ‘Nagasu’;
- Blending traditional designs with new trends by weaving
conventional motifs and contemporary ‘optical illusion’ patterns together to create
the range of visually appealing Varnajaalam sarees, a first-of-its-kind that intrigues
the eye and the mind.
